Red Moss
A film studio's website has one job: make you want to watch the work. Red Moss got a site that behaves like a title sequence.
The brief
Red Moss is a London film duo making original comedy and drama. They did not want a corporate site with a showreel bolted on. They wanted a site where the film is the interface and everything else gets out of the way.
The approach
The homepage opens on their work, full bleed, with the studio's deep red and near-black palette carried through every surface. Between scenes, the typography does the talking: big, and set like a title card.
Restraint was the hard part. Motion is used at a few moments rather than everywhere, so the site feels directed, the way their films are. Grain, colour treatment and scrim layers were tuned so the video reads as cinema rather than a background loop.
What shipped
A bespoke portfolio site with the studio's own film playing in the hero, hand-built and tuned so the video never gets in the way of performance on a phone. Designed and built by me, with every stage previewed and approved in the client portal.
