01 What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a website stores on your computer or mobile device. “Similar technologies” include things like local storage and pixels that work in much the same way. They're used to make sites work, to remember you between pages, and sometimes to measure how a site is used.
Cookies are generally grouped into: strictly necessary (needed for the site to function), functional (remember your preferences), analytics/performance (measure usage), and marketing (track for advertising).
02 Our approach
We keep this simple. The Meko marketing website (meko.design) and the client portal (app.meko.design) use a small number of first-party cookies: the strictly necessary ones that make the sites work, plus two analytics cookies, so we can understand which pages are visited and how people move through our enquiry form. One is from Meko Analytics, our own analytics, and one is from PostHog, a privacy-focused analytics tool. We're moving from PostHog to our own analytics, and both run while we check their numbers match. We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't build advertising profiles about you.
The client portal also uses a strictly necessary cookie so that, once you've logged in, you stay logged in securely as you move around.
The analytics cookies hold a random identifier, not your name or contact details, and the details you type into the enquiry form are never sent to analytics. PostHog processes its data on its servers in the EU. Meko Analytics stores its data on Google Cloud in Europe (EU data centres, with collection handled in London). You can block or delete these cookies at any time (see Managing cookies); the site works exactly the same without them.
Meko Analytics records the pages you visit, the buttons and links you click, where you came from (for example a search engine or an advert), your type of device and browser, and a rough town worked out from your IP address. Your IP address itself is never stored, and nothing you type is ever collected. Until you accept, or if you decline, pages are still counted, but nothing is stored on your device: visits are grouped by a code that changes every day. If you send us an enquiry, sign in to the portal, or open a link in an email from us, that day's visits are linked to it, whatever you chose here.

04 Third-party services
Some features rely on third parties that may set their own cookies or receive your IP address when their content loads:
- Cal.com: when you book a discovery call, Cal.com may set cookies governed by its own privacy policy.
- PostHog: our analytics provider. Usage data is sent to PostHog's EU cloud and handled under its privacy policy.
- Google Cloud: stores the data from Meko Analytics, our own analytics, on Google Cloud in Europe (EU data centres, with collection handled in London). It sets no cookies of its own.
- Web fonts: we load fonts from Fontshare and Google Fonts; their servers receive your IP address to deliver the font files.
- Vercel & Google/Firebase: our hosting and portal infrastructure, which may set strictly necessary cookies as described above.
We don't control third-party cookies. Please see each provider's own policy for details.
05 Managing cookies
The first time you visit, a bar at the bottom of the page asks whether you accept the analytics cookies. Choose “Decline” and neither is set. You can change your mind at any time: open the cookie settings (the same link sits in the footer of every page) and choose again. One choice covers both Meko Analytics and PostHog, on this site and in the client portal.
You can also control and delete cookies through your browser settings, including blocking them entirely. Blocking the analytics cookies has no effect on the site. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop the client portal from working (you may not be able to stay logged in). Guidance for common browsers:

If our use of cookies changes, we'll update this page and, where required, ask for your consent. The “last updated” date above always reflects the current version.
