The questions
I get asked
Answers to the questions people ask before we work together. If yours isn't here, email me or book the call, both are free.
About thirty minutes on the phone or a video call. I ask what the site needs to do, who it's for and what you already have. By the end you'll know whether I'm the right fit, and you'll have a fixed price.
Marketing sites usually launch in three weeks. Platforms and portals get their own timeline before we start.
An idea of what the site needs to do, and whatever you already have: an old site, a logo, some photos, notes. I draft the structure and the copy from there, so you never start from a blank page.
Mostly React, Next.js, TypeScript and modern CSS, with a CMS when you need to edit content yourself. For a simple site I'll use the lightest thing that does the job.
Through your portal. Click anywhere on a design preview to pin a comment, reply in threads, and approve each stage when you're happy. You can also send files and invite colleagues.
You could, and I use AI tools every day myself. They are good at producing code. They are not good at deciding what your business needs, what to leave out, or why a page isn't converting, and they won't pick up the phone when something breaks in six months. That judgement, and someone to call, is what you're paying for.
Yes. Every build includes 30 days of post-launch fixes and hosting. After that, Hosted keeps the site online, secure and backed up for £40/month (or £400/year), and three plans add changes and ongoing work: Live at £150/month, Compounding at £400/month and Partner at £1,200/month. Every plan includes hosting and can be cancelled any time. Rather host it yourself? I hand everything over, free. The pricing page lists every line.
Because you shouldn't be punished for asking questions, and I shouldn't be rewarded for working slowly. We agree the scope and the price up front, and I carry the risk of it taking longer. You always know the number.
If you want something new, I'll quote it as a separate addition and wait for your yes before doing it. The original price stays as it was.
Typically a deposit to book your slot, then the balance at launch. Larger platform projects are split into milestones. It's all written down before we begin.
Yes. The code, the content and the CMS are yours. If you ever move on, you take it all with you.
