Nothing you drop here leaves your device

Most free image tools work by uploading your files to a server, squeezing them there, and sending them back. That means your photos, screenshots and documents pass through someone else's computer, and you have to trust what happens to them afterwards. This tool does none of that. Every image is read, resized and re-encoded by your own browser, using the same graphics engine that draws every web page. Your files never touch the network, there is no account, no watermark and no cap on how many you run. You can watch it work with your Wi-Fi switched off.

Compress, convert and resize, in one pass

Compression trims the file size by re-encoding the image at a sensible quality. Dropping from full quality to around 80% is usually invisible to the eye but can cut a photo's size by more than half, which is the difference between a page that loads instantly and one that makes people wait. Converting swaps the format. WebP is the modern choice for the web and is noticeably smaller than JPG at the same quality, AVIF is smaller still and the most future-proof of the lot, JPG stays the safe universal option, and PNG is the one to keep when you need a transparent background. When you do keep a PNG here, it is optimised losslessly, which typically makes it several times smaller than an ordinary export without touching a single pixel. Resizing caps the pixel dimensions, and it is the single biggest saving most people miss. A photo straight off a phone is often 4,000 pixels wide, when the spot it is going into is barely 1,200. Set a sensible maximum width and the file shrinks accordingly, with the aspect ratio kept and nothing ever enlarged.

A note on how it manages that privately. Where your browser already has a great built-in encoder, for JPG and WebP, this tool uses it directly. For PNG optimisation and AVIF it uses the same open-source encoders that power Google's Squoosh, compiled to run inside your browser. Either way the work happens on your machine, so the honest promise still holds: the code that does the squeezing is fetched once and cached, but your actual images are never sent anywhere.

What about iPhone HEIC photos?

HEIC is the format iPhones save photos in by default, and it is a common headache: it is efficient, but plenty of websites, older laptops and Windows machines cannot open it, so you end up with a photo you cannot upload or share. Drop a HEIC file in here and it converts straight to a JPG (or WebP, if you prefer) that works everywhere, resized and compressed in the same step. Like everything else, that conversion happens on your own device, so even a folder of holiday photos stays entirely private.

A quick word on the limits, because honesty matters more than a clever pitch. This is a practical tool for the everyday job of getting images ready for a website, an email or a form, and for that it does the whole job. It is not a photo editor, and it will not retouch or upscale anything.
